Australija je uspela da izbegne senzaciju na startu sampionata pobedom nad Jordanom od 76-75.
Jordan je dominirao tokom veceg dela meca, pre svega zahvaljujuci sjajnom Zaid Abbas-u koji je u prvoj cetvrtini postigao 9 od 18 poena svoje ekipe. Uprkos seriji Australije kojom su uspeli da se vrate na 18-18, reprezentacija Jordana je bila agresivnija u odbrani i opet napravila prednost - 39-32. U trecoj, Australijanci su se vise oslonili na igru pod kosevima i zakucavanjem Brad Newley-a i buzzer beater-om Aleksa Marica dolaze do svoje prve prednosti u mecu - 56-55 nakon 30 minuta igre. Bas kada su Kenguri pomislili da je to to, Jordan se vratio trojkom kapitena Zaid Alkhas-a i 5 uzastopnih poena Rasheim Wright-a na 74-68 sa 1:23 do kraja. Medjutim, onda su stvar u svoje ruke preuzeli Aleks Maric, Matt Nielsen i David Andersen koji je pogodio kljucna 2 bacanja na 13 sekundi pre kraja meca.
