Juzni je imao neki problem sa nogom/stopalom pocetkom 4. seta, bar je tako delovalo.

Here's the most remarkable thing to me about Federer: Seems to me that the more you know about tennis, the more amazed you are by the guy. If you know nothing at all about tennis, he's amazing. If you know a little something about tennis—maybe you have played a few times in your life—he's more amazing. If you know a little more about tennis—maybe you played in high school and once had illusions of becoming a pro—he's even MORE amazing. And if you were a great player—if you are a McEnroe or a Connors or a Jim Courier—then Federer is preposterously amazing

Šteta što je forma ovako očajna, inače se žrijeb tako otvorio da bi u regularnim uslovima trebalo da bude šetnja do polufinala za Rogera. Sljedeće kolo Feliciano (h2h 12:0), pa onda Kohlschreiber (h2h 11:0) i u četvrtfinalu jedan od sljedećih igrača (Bautista Agut, Mannarino, Del Potro i Thiem). Za prvu dvojicu ne bi smjelo da bude problema, Del Potro je hendikepiran nedostatkom bekhenda, a Thiem sa večerašnjim nivoom igre (što je uobičajen nivo igre na hardu za njega) čak i sa večerašnjim Federerom on nema šanse ni za set.
